Zulfi Bukhari submits form of Imran Khan for Oxford University election

He will enter an online ballot from his prison. For the first time, the elections for the Chancellor will be held online.

PTI leader Sayed Zulfi Bukhari confirms he has submitted the form of Imran Khan for Oxford University Chancellor Election 2024. The election is scheduled for later this year when the university’s graduates and staff will vote for a new chancellor.

“As per Imran Khan’s instructions, his application form to Oxford University Chancellor Election 2024 has been submitted. We look forward to everyone’s support for a historic campaign,” said Zulfi Bukhari in a tweet on Sunday.

According to the Guardian, the election is expected to place in October. The form had been submitted following the consent of the former Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Khan, 71, has been in jail for a year now on strings of charges. News outlet Telegraph, says that PTI confirmed that Imran Khan will be taking part in the process. He will enter an online ballot from his prison. For the first time, the elections for the Chancellor will be held online as opposed to the traditional process where the graduates were expected to attend in person in full academic dress. As per the news sources, the change in voting style has been done to facilitate Imran Khan.

After getting relief from multiple major cases, Imran Khan is in jail on the charges of inciting protests and violence against the Pakistan Army on May 9th. He has denied these charges stating that he only ordered peaceful protests in case he gets arrested.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan is among the candidates to be elected the next Chancellor of Oxford University following the resignation of Chris Patten. The seat is left vacant following the resignation of 80-year-old Patten who held the post for 21 years.

Theresa May, Boris Johnson, and other leading political figures are in the race to become the renowned educational institute’s next chancellor.
